Hilton of the Americas

Chairs, Jan and Alan Selbst
Co-Chairs, Nita and Nolan Bedford

For one night only - get your Harley out of the garage, get decked out in your best black leather, and join us for some rip-roaring excitement!  It will surely be a hot night of fundraising fun. Your gifts will help us meet the needs of the homeless men, women, and children, and develop the skills needed to end homelessness. The House of Tiny Treasures, SEARCH’s early childhood development center, offers services for both the child and the family, thereby helping to break the cycle of homelessness.

Chairman, John Guess Jr.

Keynote Speakers: Authors Ron Hall and Denver Moore

Same Kind of Different as Me, is a phenomenal book that tells the unlikely true story of Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Ron is a wealthy international art dealer who travels the world buying and selling rare and expensive art. When Ron reluctantly volunteers at a homeless shelter, at the insistence of his wife, he soon comes into contact with Denver, a homeless man who grew up as a sharecropper in Louisiana. It was here that the two men met. The story of their relationship is fascinating and inspiring, offering a glimpse of what happens when these two worlds come into contact with each other.

10th Annual Celebrate the Children Gala
Cirque de SEARCH

We raised over $424,000 for SEARCH’s Tiny Treasures Programs at our 10th Annual Celebrate the Children gala!

Our Cirque de SEARCH event was unbelievable! The venue was beautiful, the food delicious, entertainment unbelievable and the silent auction well attended. What more can you say but thank you to everyone who supported our Celebrate the Children gala. We had 500 Houstonian’s in attendance, among them Councilman Adrian Garcia, Ambassador Arthur Schechter, Lorraine & Ed Wulfe, Melanie Lawson & John Guess, and Maureen & Jim Hackett.

Judge Eric Andell did an amazing job as our auctioneer. He not only entertained the audience with his charm and wit, he helped SEARCH raised $15,000 from the live auction alone. Our auction included incredible trips to Prince Edward Island and Hawaii plus the last ever autographed UT Jersey and Helmet by Vince Young.

Master of Ceremony, Jerome Gray, helped us stay true to our word…short on program, long on fun. And, what fun everyone had watching Cirque perform spine-bending, mind-tingling acts like the contortionist, Chandelier Balancing, Ariel Rope, Rolla Bolla and the unbelievable Statue Strength. After the performances everyone enjoyed dancing to the tunes of the Doppelganger Band.

You won’t want to miss our Bikers & Babes 2008 Celebrate the Children gala, date to be announced. With gala chairs Jan & Alan Selbst and co-chairs Nita & Nolan Bedford it is sure to be a fabulous time, but more importantly help raise much needed funds for SEARCH and its Tiny Treasures Programs.
